In the villages around Lokori, women and girls walk up to four hours a day for water, and what they carry back is often from an open pool shared with cattle. Diarrhoea is the main reason children miss school.
With our partners on the ground we drill boreholes, fit hand pumps and train a water committee in each village to look after them. Every pump serves around 300 people and lasts more than twenty years.
